Protect™ Mosquito Repellent was developed by Allison Wild, (MSc Clinical Pharmacology, University of Oxford), after her husband refused to return with her to Thailand after having been bitten incessantly by Aedes aegyptii mosquitoes. He tried everything, DEET-based products and citronella-based products, but they were all either ineffective or caused blistering rashes. He set her the challenge ‘invent something effective that I can use or I will not be going back!’ Allison could see days of exploring the jungles and beaches of Asia becoming a dim and distant dream, so she focussed her resources on developing the absolute best mosquito repellent, which was also kind to sensitive skin.
After developing an organic skincare range, Allison spent years testing and refining the repellent even rearing an Aedes aegyptii colony to use in testing. The final product is a nourishing moisturiser, kind to sensitive skin, whilst repelling all species of mosquitoes, and other biting insects. It has been tested and used in the mosquito-infested rainforests of South America, as well as the jungles and beaches of Asia. Closer to home, it has also protected travellers on the rivers of Germany and France.
